Putting Freemasonry in the Dock

Masonic Seal
Freemasonry is under attack to a greater extent now than has ever been the case before. Few people know the real story or have any clear idea what Freemasonry actually is; what it stands for and just how much influence it genuinely has in the world. If there are any accusations to answer, Freemasonry itself must be put on trial, so that everyone can learn the real story. That is the sole purpose of this website, but before we start we need to look at exactly what Freemasonry is accused of.

The Charge Sheet

Freemasonry Handcuffed
Many different people, agencies and associations hurl accusations at Freemasonry, but when all the vitriol is boiled down, there turns out to be a very specific list of charges leveled against Freemasons and their Craft. We will eventually look at these individually and examine the evidence carefully. In the meantime here is the Charge Sheet.

1. Freemasonry is opposed to religion - especially Christianity
2. Freemasonry is based on Devil Worship
3. Freemasonry is controlled by a so-called Illuminati
4. Freemasonry has its own, hidden gods
5. Freemasonry seeks to destroy national frontiers and create a New World Order.

My Qualifications

Writer and Researcher Alan Butler
My name is Alan Butler. I am a writer and researcher from England. It is firstly very important to point out that I am not a Freemason and have never been one. Most of my writing and research across the last 30 years has been associated with history and mysteries from the past. Because of the nature of this work it was innevitable that I would come face-to-face with Freemasonry at many different levels.

A number of my globally published books have either been specifically about Freemasonry, or the way it has been associated with other organisations and historical events. These books include 'The Warriors and the Bankers' with Stephen Dafoe, 'The Goddess, the Grail and the Lodge', 'The Virgin and the Pentacle', 'Return to the Hiram Key', written with Christopher Knight, 'Before the Pyramids', written with Christopher Knight and my most recent solo book 'City of the Goddess - Washington DC'. In addition to these titles I have given countless talks across the world and constructed dozens of articles about Freemasonry.  It is from this large body of work that these pages have been created. More specific evidence can be seen in the books.

I think it is therefore safe to say that I know at least as much about Freemasonry as any other researcher in the world today and a great deal more about the Craft than does all but the most advanced member of any Freemasonic lodge. The comments I make in the pages that follow have nothing to do with my personal feelings regarding Freemasonry but are based solely on the evidence I have collected over the years.

The Background

The Goddess of Freemasonry
Many people only have the most rudimentary knowledge of what Freemasonry actually is. To perhaps the majority of individuals a Freemasonic lodge represents a group of men who come together to perform strange and probably dark ceremonies, often dressed in weird costumes and uttering more or less unintelligable oaths.

Some of this is true, but it could hardly be said to represent the broad truth of what Freemasonic membership and practice is about; so before we assemble the court and put Freemasonry in the dock, it seems only fair to explain what the Craft is and does.
